Resolution schmesolution
Hi friends!
Happy New Year! I have some things in the works for the new year that I hope to share with you all and want to have smaller pieces to sell as well as some larger ones for sale. I’m working on focusing more on consistency rather than perfectionism in my art practic as well as in my personal life. Maybe, that’s the most constant thing about my work: the decontruction of perfectionsm.
I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions and last year I gave myself a word for the new year which was grace. Since, I’ve been so focused on consistency at the second half of this year I think the new word for 2023 will be rhythm. Every year I come in with these huge hopes but realizing more and more that sometimes the pace can be a little slower and in the process, there is the magic. So, as much as I want to set out new year goals I want to also be mindful that I am not a machine that churns things out for capitalism or to compete with others (which is hard since I grew up playing sports). My practice is for me and I can take what I want and leave the rest. It’s how I want it to look and it fits into my life right now but it is always changing.
So, I’ve cleaned up my studio from the last project/year as well as reorganized some of my setups. I’ve always found rearranging things helps me shift my focus as well as remember supplies that have been long forgotten in the depths of drawers and boxes within boxes of tiny hidden treasures. I will give a little studio tour in next month’s newsletter.
Looking forward to new projects in the new year and thank you for your support throughout the year it means the world to me and I can’t wait to continue this journey with you!

Stay Soft,
Alexa

Can’t wait to see what the new year brings. I’m also not big on resolutions but love the idea of a clean slate and the excitement that is around a new year. Thanks for sharing.
